Chase DeLauter has best day at the plate since coming back, Ralphy Velazquez continues to heat up
HIGHLIGHTS
Chase DeLauter (RF, Columbus): 3-for-5, R, 2B, 3 RBIs - The 23-year-old drove in a run on all three of his hits in his best day at the plate since returning to the lineup in Columbus. This is the first multi-hit performance for DeLauter since being activated from the injured list on May 22. The James Madison product had the hardest hit ball of the game (108.0 mph) with his double and the third-hardest hit (105.0 mph) with his third inning single.
Kody Huff (C, Columbus): 2-for-5, 2 2Bs, 4 RBIs, E2T, PB - The Clippers backstop drove in a team-high four runs, the most in any game of his professional career. A bases loaded double in the bottom of the third cleared the bases for three of those four runs batted in and brought Columbus back to within one at 10-9 with an RBI double in the eighth where the game’s tying run was thrown out at home. All four of Huff’s RBIs also came with two outs.
Jonah Advincula (CF, Lake County): 3-for-5, 3 R, 3B, HR, RBI - Advincula has now reached base safely three times in each of his last four games with three hits in this one as well as three others and a three-walk performance on Friday. On Sunday, he was just a double shy of hitting for the cycle with his third triple and fourth homerun of the year. All three times he reached base, he came around to score and was half of the team’s runs.
Welbyn Francisca (DH, Lynchburg): 3-for-5, R, RBI - The 19-year-old led the way for Lynchburg with three hits, including the go-ahead single that capped off a three-run top of the ninth to rally to beat the Red Sox. He was also involved in the three-run top of the first after he singled and later scored via a sacrifice fly by Robert Lopez. Give him back-to-back three-hit games and he is now hitting .360 in the month of June with hits in each of his last five games and four doubles.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Petey Halpin (CF, Columbus): 2-for-3, 2 R, RBI, BB, OF assist - Halpin reached base three times in the loss and saved a run when he aided in throwing out a runner at the plate. He now has five assists from center field this year and six overall.
Kyle Datres (1B, Columbus): 1-for-5, R, HR, RBI, 2 DPs - Datres slugged his first Triple-A homerun on Sunday afternoon in the bottom of the seventh to draw the Clippers closer while trailing by four at the time.
Brayan Rocchio (SS, Columbus): 1-for-3, R, 2 BBs, SB, E6F - Rocchio remained consistent by reaching base three times in the game, but unfortunately suffered his seventh error in 24 games with the Clippers.
Ralphy Velasquez (LF, Lake County): 2-for-5, 2 RBIs, GIDP - Velasquez drove in the team’s first run with an RBI single in the first and his single in the fifth game the Captains the lead at 4-3. This is his fourth multi-hit game out of the last seven played.
Maick Collado (1B, Lake County): 2-for-4, RBI, CS - Collado joined Advincula and Velasquez with a multi-hit game, his first since May 16. His seventh inning hit drove in the sixth run of the game for Lake County.
Christian Knapczyk (2B, Lake County): 1-for-3, R, RBI, BB, SF - Three quality at-bats for Knapczyk saw him record a single, walk and drove in a run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly. He is just 2-for-29 (.069 BA) in the month of June but hopefully will turn the corner in the next series.
Jack Jasiak (RP, Lake County): S (3), 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, K, HBP - Jasiak entered the game with the bases loaded and zero outs and escaped with just one inherited run scoring on a hit batsman. He recorded a groundball out at home himself with a pair of popouts and then retired the side in order in the ninth for his third save.
Conner Whittaker (RP, Lynchburg): W (6-1), 3.0 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 0 Ks - Whittaker pitched to contact en route to his sixth pitching win of the season. He got through three shutout innings with just 33 pitches (18 strikes) and allowed just one hit and one flyball into the outfield. The rest of the contact made was on the infield either with groundballs or pop ups.
Ryan Cesarini (CF, Lynchburg): 2-for-5, 2 R, 2 RBIs - Cesarini’s ninth inning single tied the game at five and drove in two runs. It is his first game with multiple hits since all the way back on May 1 and was also his first game in the leadoff spot in the Hillcats batting order.

HIGHLIGHTS
Doug Nikhazy (SP, Columbus): 5.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 BBs, 8 Ks - Four of the first six batters Nikhazy faced went down on strikes, but from there the southpaw allowed a little traffic and two runs to score. Eight K’s ties his season best mark and it comes off an appearance where he fanned seven last time out. He induced a game-high 21 whiffs, nine on the changeup and six on the slider.

Dylan DeLucia (SP, Akron): W (1-0), 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 5 Ks - The wait was well worth it for DeLucia in his first appearance in an Akron RubberDucks uniform. The 24-year-old tossed six shutout innings and allowed just two baserunners on the day in a remarkable performance in Hartford. The final 11 batters DeLucia faced were retired with four of his five strikeouts coming in that time.
Joe Lampe (LF, Akron): 1-for-3, R, 3B, 3 RBIs, BB - The most impactful hit of the night was a bases loaded triple off the bat of Joe Lampe that cleared the bases and gave Akron a commanding 4-0 advantage. It came at the right time two in a 1-0 game in the top of the seventh inning as to not spoil the fantastic appearance from his starter. He walked two times as well to put him on base three times for the day.
Jack Jasiak (RP, Lake County): S (4), 2.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 4 Ks - Jasiak has shown tremendous poise in the bullpen and now has three straight saves in as many opportunities for the Captains. Better yet, all three of those saves have come going two complete innings to show he can eat up multiple high leverage innings himself. He lowered his ERA to 1.17 on the year and should be a no-brainer to be called up to Akron in the near future.
Luis Merejo (1B, Lynchburg): 2-for-3, 2 R, 2 HRs, 2 RBIs, BB - Merejo matched the Mudcat scoring himself with a pair of solo homeruns in the 3-2 victory on Wednesday. The 18-year-old had struggled throughout the month of May but turning the calendar to June has done positive things for Merejo, who now has three longballs in the last two games. He is hitting .276 over his last eight games (8-for-29) with eight RBIs in his last five.
Yeiferth Castillo (RF, ACL Guardians): 3-for-5, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBIs - Castillo ended up finishing a triple short of hitting for the cycle despite the loss. He was on the backside of consecutive homeruns by Gabriel Rodriguez (his first ACL homerun) and himself in the top of the fifth to keep the team in striking distance before the outcome got away from them. He is on a tear with three straight multi-hit games and homeruns in three of the last four.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Chase DeLauter (LF, Columbus): 1-for-3, R, BB, E7T - Despite recording one hit, DeLauter had three batted balls above 104 mph off the stick, the highest of which a groundout at 106.0 mph. He has now gotten on base at least twice in each of the last four games played.
Yordys Valdes (2B, Columbus): 2-for-4, 2B - Valdes was the lone man with multiple hits for the Clippers with a 2-for-4 effort. The 23-year-old laced a third inning double at nearly 104 mph and is now rocking an eight-game hit streak.
Franco Aleman (RP, Columbus): 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 3 Ks - Aleman creeped up on 99 mph on the sinker and struck out three of the four batters he faced. He has held opponents without a run in all three appearances in the month of June.
Dayan Frias (3B, Akron): 2-for-4, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB - Frias added a key insurance run in the ninth with a solo homerun, his fifth of 2025. The 22-year-old has reached base safely at least twice in four games in the month of June, but it has been feast or famine of late.
Alex Mooney (2B, Akron): 3-for-4, R, BB - Mooney was a thorn in the Yard Goats’ side throughout the evening by reaching base four times. Give him back-to-back multi-hit games and that is only his fifth of the year.
Jake Fox (CF, Akron): 2-for-5, 2B, RBI - Fox aided the four-run seventh with an RBI double that took a fortunate hop off the shortstop. These were his first hits in the last four games.
Angel Genao (SS, Akron): 2-for-5, R - Genao recorded his first Double-A hit on Wednesday with his line drive single in the third and followed that up with a seventh-inning single as well.
Alfonsin Rosario (DH, Lake County): 1-for-4, R, HR, 2 RBIs - The power continues to be put on display for Rosario as he hit double figures with his homerun total. He has 15 strikeouts on five hits in his last 32 at-bats, however his hits are usually talked about because they sail way over the fence.
Jose Pirela (RF, Lynchburg): 2-for-3, 3B, RBI - Pirela tied the game in the fifth inning with a triple that scored a run. This is his first multi-hit game since May 10.
Garrett Howe (2B, Lynchburg): 2-for-4, R - The 22-year-old is looking for a spark in the month of June and hopefully this is it, his first multi-hit game since turning the calendar.
Jervis Alfaro (SP, Lynchburg): 5.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, BB, 6 Ks, Timer Violation - Alfaro now has 15 K’s in his last two appearances, but a two-run homerun in the second spoiled what would have been shutout baseball even with several innings of traffic.
Julio Zapata (RP, Lynchburg): W (1-0), 2.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 3 Ks - Zapata looked sharp in his first appearance of the year fresh from his rehab assignment in Arizona. He struck out the side in the sixth and his defense picked him up with an outfield assist to end the seventh.
Luis Flores (RP, Lynchburg): S (3), 2.0 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 4 Ks, PO, Timer Violation - Flores was able to use a pickoff move at second to end the eighth and struck out the first two batters of the ninth to record his third save of the year.
Luis De La Cruz (1B-3B, ACL Guardians): 3-for-5, 2B, RBI, SB, E3F, DP - De La Cruz began his day with hits in his first three plate appearances and it was an eventful day on the basepaths and in the field as well, highlighted by his ninth steal in 25 games played.

High-A: Lake County Captains 7, Dayton Dragons 6

Rehab
Juan Brito (2B, ACL): 0-2, BB - Brito logged three plate appearances in his first game back from thumb surgery as he makes his way back. He’s certainly back sooner than expected, at least in terms of rehab.
Michael Kennedy (SP, ACL): 1.1IP, H, 2R, 1ER, 4BB, 2K - Kennedy had a leg injury and is just now getting back on the mound, which is good because he’s someone who really needed a season of development with Cleveland after coming over from Pittsburgh in the off-season.

Carlos Gutierrez (starting LF, ACL): 1-3, 1 R, 1 K - The Hillcats outfielder rounded out the trio of returns to the field on Thursday night in Goodyear.
Highlights
Jhonkensy Noel (RF, Columbus): 2-4, 2 HR, 4 RBI - Much like Will Wilson going back to Triple-A this week, Noel immediately had a two homer game. Not really all that shocking. To the credit of Big Christmas, his first at bat was a nine pitch at bat, far more than he was often having in the majors. However, his next at bat was a four pitch strikeout, chasing a slider out of the zone. He did later homer off former Cleveland reliever Nick Sandlin on the first pitch of the at bat. We’ll see if he can have more patience going forward because that’s the only tangible change that is going to help him at this point.
Parker Messick (SP, Columbus): 6IP, 3H, 4BB, 6K - Messick was his usual 92-94 with his fastball and was effective with his changeup. Despite the four walks, he did have a decent amount of called strikes. Cleveland did let him push to 96 pitches in six innings, which is a good sign for him, though you’d like to see better efficiency.
Alex Mooney (SS, Akron): 2-4, 2 2B - It’s been a rough year so far for Mooney so two doubles in a game is nice to see after a strong year in Lake County last year.
Trenton Denholm (SP, Akron): 6IP, 6H, 6K - The right hander tossed 77 pitches in six innings with seven strikeouts. Some very impressive efficiency. Denholm probably needs to be in Triple-A at this point but there may not be any room for him yet.
Alfonsin Rosario (CF, Lake County): 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI - After a slow start to June for Rosario, but he homered on June 11 and then doubled here in the next game, jumping right back into his power.
Tommy Hawke (CF, Lynchburg): 2-3, 3 RBI, 2 BB, 3 SB - Hawke now has 56 steals this year and an inflated on base percentage because he continues to walk and keeps running. He needs a chance at High-A at this point.
Welbyn Francisca (SS, Lynchburg): 2-4, 4 RBI, 2 SB, BB -Welbyn continues to come out of his early season funk, having a hot June. Most impressive for his approach is the continued walks and getting on base.
Robert Arias (DH, ACL): 3-5, SB - Arias continues to hit in the ACL, albeit with limited power.
Josh Perez (SP, DSL Goryl): ND, 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R (earned), 3 BB, 1 BK, 2 K - Perez, who reached the five-inning threshold in his second pro game (Don’t ask about pitch counts. We don’t get them for the DSL.), is off to a stellar start, having allowed only one earned run while striking out eight in 8.1 combined frames.
Notable Performances
Petey Halpin (CF, Columbus): 1-5, HR, RBI - Halpin crushed his sixth homer of the year. It’s both interesting and possibly good that he now has four homers on the road and just one at home, where Huntington Park is a hitters haven.
CJ Kayfus (1B-LF, Columbus): 1-3, HR, RBI, BB, 2K - Kayfus joined Noel in punishing Sandlin, crushing a poorly located, poor velocity (90) fastball for a homer on the first pitch of the at bat.
Chase DeLauter (DH, Columbus): 1-4, 2B, BB, K - The hardest hit ball tonight for DeLauter was 107, which resulted in a fielding error. His double was only 80 off the bat, and his third was a 95 MPH lineout. He chased a high fastball in his at bat where he struck out. His first at bat was a walk on four noncompetitive pitches.
Wuilfredo Antunez (DH, Lake County): 2-4, 2B, SB, RBI - I still dig some of Antunez’s power and skills but still want to see more consistency.
Ryan Cesarini (RF, Lynchburg): 3-5, 2B, SB - I still expected Cesarini to be better in Low-A at 22 and it’s been a slow start. He’s had some good moments this year, but it’s been an underwhelming performance overall.
Bennett Thompson (C, Lynchburg): 2-4, 2B, SB - Speaking of players who need another challenge, Thompson probably doesn’t have a huge prospect ceiling but is clearly too good for Low-A, but it’s lack of opportunities and that he probably would be a little exposed at High-A. It’s a fine balance.
Jacob Zibin (SP, Lynchburg): 2IP, BB - Zibin only threw 21 pitches in two inning and didn’t miss any bats, but it’s an efficient outing that he’s still trying to find some consistency as he works his way back after a long time off due to multiple arm surgeries.
Juneiker Caceres (RF, ACL): 1-4, HR, 2 RBI - Caceres is showing everything in the ACL circuit this year and while it’s important to not get too excited about a complex league performance, but he is 17 and doing some impressive things. A late trip to Lynchburg this year would be encouraging.
Nomar Velasquez (3B, DSL Mendoza): 1-3, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB - Velasquez’s two-run double in the top of the third gave Mendoza a short-lived lead in a game that would soon swing heavily in the Dodgers Bautista’s favor.
Ricardo Romero (2B, DSL Goryl): 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI - Romero provided a similar offensive high point for Goryl with an RBI double in the bottom of the first.

Scoreboard
Triple-A: Columbus Clippers 7, Buffalo Bisons 1
Double-A: Hartford Yard Goats 4, Akron RubberDucks 2
High-A: Lake County Captains 7, Dayton Dragons 6
Single-A: Lynchburg Hillcats 13, Carolina Mudcats 1
ACL: Guardians 7, Mariners 5

Re: Minor Matters
13733Good to see Brito back in action. Just about all the injured position players are getting back to work. DeLauter to Columbus. Genao back to Akron. Chourio to Lake County. Brito won't be in Columbus for a week or so but he's heading in the right direction.
Naturally George Valera's return lasted only two days. But he's pretty much off the radar by now.
As for pitchers, the key is Bieber at the big league level and haven't seen a further update.

REHAB
Juan Brito (starting 2B, ACL): 1-3, 1 K - Brito singled in the first for his first hit in nearly two months (a double for the Clippers on April 15).

Carlos Gutierrez (starting LF, ACL): 0-1, 1 BB, 1 HBP - Gutierrez stayed in and walked in a later plate appearance after being plunked, so his removal was just standard early-stint rehab appearance stuff, not related to the HBP.
HIGHLIGHTS
CJ Kayfus (RF, Columbus): 2-3, 2B, 3B, RBI, BB, K - Kayfus continued his strong weekend by getting on base three more times including two extra base hits and a walk. Nolan Jones has been a little better lately and I’m not sure Kyle Manzardo is being sent down anytime soon, so if Kayfus makes his debut this year, it looks like it would have to come if Cleveland falls out of the playoff race and they trade Carlos Santana.
Chase DeLauter (DH, Columbus): 2-4, BB, K - DeLauter continues to pick things up offensively although he’s still serving at the DH and he’s not getting the ball in the air as much as usual, but he’s staying in the zone and hitting well despite the time off due to injury again.
Angel Genao (SS, Akron): 2-5, 2B, E - Genao did make an error but doubled and has been making plenty of contact at Akron in his brief debut there, so things are looking solid so far.
Guy Lipscomb (CF, Akron): 4-5, 2B - Though he’s 24,the contact rate is interesting at Double-A, but I don’t know if it will translate to Triple-A, but there are some solid skills. Maybe a future fifth outfield type or call up.
Tommy Hawke (2B, Lynchburg): 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI - Hawke didn’t walk or steal a base, but he did double and played second base. An interesting development for him, but he still needs to get out of Low-A soon. Maybe next week when the first half ends?
Welbyn Francisca (SS, Lynchburg): 2-5, 2B - Francisca continues to hit since his slow start, but he also is finding a lot of groundball and infield hits in this stretch.
Jose Pirela (LF, Lynchburg): 3-4, 3B, RBI - I really liked Pirela in his complex seasons but he’s been a difficult transition to full season ball despite Low-A being a very watered down league.
Juneiker Caceres (RF, ACL): 2-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 E - Caceres led off the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot to right that broke the Diamondbacks shutout. The 17 year old continues to be interesting in complex ball, with underlying metrics that are encouraging even for the level.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Jhonkensy Noel (LF, Columbus): 2-5, RBI, - Noel is hitting quickly in Triple-A but is just simply chasing more and making more contact when he does, showing more of the gap between the majors and Triple-A.
Vince Velazquez (SP, Columbus): 5.2IP, 2H, ER, 2BB, 7K - Velazquez has been putting together some nice performances lately but Buffalo is a pretty light minor league lineup and he’s still throwing low-90s now.
Joe Lampe (RF, Akron): 1-4, HR, SB, 3 RBI - Lampe has three homers in his last eight games. It’s been a struggle this year and I don’t know that he’ll turn it around but the power lately has been at least interesting for a player that’s not really known for it.
Tommy Mace (SP, Akron): 5IP, 3H, ER, 4BB, 5K - Interesting amount of strikeouts for Mace who isn’t a bat misser, but the walks were problematic for the 26 year old in Double-A for a second season.
Alfonsin Rosario (RF, Lake County): 1-3, HR, BB, K - Another homer for Rosario but we’re seeing a lot of one hit performances. A lot of all of nothing hitting lately for him, which is a little concerning but not surprising.
Wuilfredo Antunez (DH, Lake County): 1-2, HR, 2BB - Two walks is more shocking than the homer for Antunez, but a good thing. Still find the skill set interesting but would be good to see more consistency.
Jaison Chourio (CF, Lake County): 0-3, 2BB, 2K - Chourio has been ultra passive this season, so it’s not a shock here to see two walks and two strikeouts. I’m not sure if that’s his approach overall, still recovering from his shoulder issue, or he’s caught in between. But you’d like to see more conviction in his swings at the plate and swing decisions.
Yorman Gomez (SP, Lake County): 5IP, 3H, 2BB, 5K - Gomez is walking too many people for his age and level, but he’s been having an interesting year and is probably a better fit as a reliever long term, but the stuff could be worth watching.
Ricardo Romero (starting LF, DSL Goryl): 2-4, 1 2B, 5 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB - Romero opened his professional stolen base account in an effort highlighted by a two-run double in the eighth - surprisingly, Goryl’s only extra-base hit of yesterday’s slugfest.
Nick Mitchell (CF, Lynchburg): 2-4, SB - Mitchell doesn’t have much power but he’s getting on base plenty, hitting for a good average and running. A lot of good base skills so far in Low-A.
Xavier Martinez (RP, Lynchburg): 2.1IP, H, BB, 6K - Martinez hasn’t had a problem missing bats at Low-A but does have too many walks for a 22 year old at this level.
Alejandro Blasco (LF, DSL Mendoza): 2-3, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 K, 1 Outfield Assist - Blasco provided the equivalent outing for Mendoza, driving in all three of the team’s runs on a seventh-inning double that was their only extra-base hit of the day.
Enderson Amaya (RP, DSL Goryl): W (1-1), 4 IP, 3 H, 2 K - Amaya’s second professional outing was a significant improvement over his three-run pro debut.

Re: Minor Matters
13736Sounds good.
Martinez plate discipline sucks.
Jones might be putting it together. More contact, more walks, strikeouts appear to be on the decline.
Whatever, moves have to be made.

Angel Genao blasts first Double-A homer, finding footing at Double-A
HIGHLIGHTS
Jhonskensy Noel (1B, Columbus): 3-for-5, R 2 2Bs, RBI, DP - Noel makes it four consecutive games with multiple hits with a three-hit day and the lone man with two extra-base hits for the Clippers in the series finale. His double in the midst of a seven-run tenth inning was the weakest of his three hits that were all tracked at above 100 mph. His other two base knocks were the two hardest-hit balls of the afternoon at 108.5 mph (ninth inning single) and 108.1 mph (sixth inning double). Noel has six extra-base hits in his last six games played.
Angel Genao (SS, Akron): 3-for-4, R, HR, 2 RBIs, BB - A big week for one of the top prospects in the system as Genao blasted a 380-foot solo homerun (105 mph off the bat), his first in Double-A. He also drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the eighth. In his last four starts, Genao has multiple hits as he is feeling things out in a RubberDucks uniform. He now has a .321 batting average in seven games played and just three strikeouts so far after recovering from an injury and moving up a level.
Jesus Luna (RP, Lake County): 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 3 Ks, Timer Violation - Luna has been impressive since being signed by Cleveland as a free agent and this was his best appearance of the season by far with nine up, nine down despite a three-run deficit. He has surrendered just one run in 14.1 innings pitched with Lynchburg and Lake County.
Luis Merejo (RF, Lynchburg): 1-for-2, 2 RBIs, BB - Merejo started the game on a positive note with a two-run single hit in the first inning, but little did the Hillcats know those would be the only times they crossed the plate on the afternoon to clinch the Carolina League North Division in the first half. The 18-year-old is starting to pick up steam with the Hillcats after a dismal start to the season and is showing better consistency in RBI opportunities.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Joey Cantillo (SP, Columbus): 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, K - Cantillo needed just 20 pitches (15 strikes) to get through two innings without a blemish but was removed as a precaution in his first appearance in two weeks.
Aaron Davenport (RP, Columbus): 4.1 IP, H, 0 R, 3 BBs, K - Walks have increased for Davenport since being moved up to Columbus on May 23, but this is his first outing with a zero in the run column despite three free bases. He was able to close his appearance strong with eight straight outs.
Zak Kent (RP, Columbus): W (2-2), 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 2 Ks - Kent was able to lower his ERA to 1.96 with a scoreless ninth that featured a pair of strikeouts, his third consecutive outing without allowing a run.
CJ Kayfus (RF, Columbus): 2-for-5, R, 2B, RBI - Kayfus added on to the Clippers’ lead in the tenth with his RBI double to give him a two-hit day. He has now hit safely in six in a row with a 1.058 OPS in the month of June (13 games).
Adam Tulloch (RP, Akron): 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BBs, K - Tulloch had a successful Double-A debut with two scoreless innings and 8.1 innings of shutout ball in a row between Akron and Lake County.
Jake Miller (RP, Akron): W (5-0), 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, K - Miller inherited two runners and left them both stranded to, at the time, keep Akron in striking distance trailing 4-2. The RubberDucks battled back in the next half inning for the victory to help solidify Miller’s eighth straight scoreless appearance.
Davis Sharpe (RP, Akron): S (4), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 BBs, K - Sharpe has been used in a multi-inning relief role, however most of his appearances have also been high leverage, in this his fourth save of the season. The game-tying run for Hartford was in scoring position with nobody out, but Sharpe was able to get out of the jam to secure the one-run win.
Cameron Barstad (C, Akron): 1-for-3, R, HR, 2 RBIs, HBP - Barstad’s two-run homerun knotted the score up at four and eventually led to the win for the team. Both of his longballs in 2025 have come in his last six games.
Michael Turconi (2B, Akron): 2-for-3, R, 2B, BB - Turconi’s double in the heart of the three-run eighth inning set him up to be the go-ahead run. That was his first extra-base hit since May 30.
Maick Collado (1B, Lake County): 2-for-3, 2B, RBI, BB - Collado recorded half of the team’s hits and drove in the lone Captains run on Sunday. An Esteban Gonzalez walk in the second turned into a run immediately with an extra-base hit by the 22-year-old.
Rafe Schlesinger (SP, Lynchburg): 4.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BBs, 3 Ks - The southpaw missed the pitching win by one out as he was able to keep the shutout alive even after a runner got to third with zero outs in the first. After struggles in the month of May, Schlessinger has yet to allow an earned run in June (13.1 innings pitched).
Luis Flores (RP, Lynchburg): S (4), 2.0 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 4 Ks - The ability to strikeout batters was on display once again for Flores en route to his fourth save of 2025. He has 53 K’s in 28.1 innings pitched this season (16.8 K/9 rate).
Tommy Hawke (CF, Lynchburg): 0-for-2, 2 BBs, SB, CS, PO - It was an adventurous day on the basepaths for Hawke after he swiped his 60th bag of the season (58 games), however he was also charged with a pickoff and caught stealing while on third. He has a 14-base advantage over second place in stolen bases in the Carolina League.

Re: Minor Matters
13738No one I read can understand why Tommy Hawke, 22 year old OF in his second season in Lynchburg, hitting 300 and with a ridiculous 60 steals doesn't get promoted. He must have a poor defensive profile.
Re: Minor Matters
13739Baseball America's Weekly Hot Sheet has one very familiar Guardian name and one up-and-comer:
15. C.J. Kayfus, 1B/OF, Guardians
Team: Triple-A Columbus (International)
Age: 23
Why He’s Here: .429/.480/.952 (9-for-21) 6 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 6 RBIs, 3 BB, 6 SO
The Scoop: Kayfus tripled this week, and he now has eight triples this season, which is a crazy number for a hitter with average speed. What’s much less crazy is just how well he hits. Kayfus doesn’t have exceptional power, but he is a .303 career MiLB hitter who collects plenty of doubles and triples. He’s been playing plenty of right and left field recently, which may be a useful skill considering the Guardians are deeper at first base (Carlos Santana and Kyle Manzardo) than in right field. (JJ)
Helium
Juneiker Caceres, OF, Guardians 17 year old
Signed for $300,000 out of Venezuela in January 2024, Caceres has been on fire since coming stateside in 2025. Over 25 games in the Arizona Complex League, Caceres has hit .312/.444/.545 with three home runs and a 19.2% walk rate to a 13.1% strikeout rate. Last week, his power broke out, as he slugged his first three home runs of the season. The outfielder shows strong bat-to-ball skills with promising underlying exit velocity data, hinting at more unrealized power in his profile. One of the top complex league players to begin 2025, Caceres should see a full-season affiliate before long. (GP)
