Quintin Holmes has been placed on 7 day DL with a right knee bruise.

Max Moroff and Yefferson Yannuzzi have been activated from IL.

We have a 17 year old SS in DSL named Gabriel Rodriguez. He started off hot this year then went into slump. He has 4 hits last 2 games, including hitting his 4th triple.

Here's a sort of weird ranking of our top 10 Lefty starting pitching prospects from early this season from a not so reliable source.

Raymond Burgos, my breakout pick, who's been out since May was No. 1. Sam Hentges who has been awful No. 2 Yefferson Yannucci with a great first name pitched his first inning of the season yesterday. No. 4 Sean Brady who has since been released. No. 5 Francisco Perez has been injured and not pitched 1 inning. No 6 Here's McCarty who was injured for a about 2 months but looking pretty good since he returned. No. 7 Zach Draper. He's been healthy but not especially good. No. 8 Juan Hillman had his best couple months of his career but has slipped back lately. No. 9 Brady Aiken No one knows where he is. No. 10 Hillbilly favorite Tanner Tully. May be only an "organizational player" but he's been healthy and steady and has reached

My comment wasn’t meant to discount anything you said, Civ, just reminded me that I was surprised they were calling Buehler small.

With the release of the OF’er earlier this year, Tully is now the last Buckeyes player in our system. I will continue to root him on, but doubt he has the goods. Same with the local kid, Mitch Longo.

Sicnarf started the year with us as the back up catcher in Lynchburg. But I do think I remember mentioning he was cut. I mentioned it cause Uncle Dennis always loved his name too. Backwards Francis should have been the favorite name of a guy who use Vic backwards as his name.

The good news is Makesiondon Kelkboom is still in our system, in Lake County. He is probably my favorite name. I hope he ends up a power hitter, with a name like Kelkboom.

Some other names I've ran across in the minors that I like (on other teams) ...

Janson Junk ... who I imagine being a chubby catcher with junk in his trunk.
Sincere Smith ... who I imagine as a pitcher, who would never lie to his skipper when asked how he feels during mound visit
Maverick Buffo ... I would pay him cash money to switch me first names. I imagine him playing poker with Jodie Foster on the team bus.
Hamlet Marte ... Hamlet, are you shitting me? Nice.

#Indians 2019 MLB 1st Round Draft Pick RHP Daniel Espino is set to make his pro debut today in the Arizona Rookie League. The hard throwing Espino usually sits around 94-97 mph with his fastball but has topped triple digits. He also has two very good breaking pitches as well.

The Boomer is a pretty impressive name, too, I'll admit.

I've been hoping to see Espino. The whole group of 2019 draftees seems so much less impressive than the collection from 2018; by the end of last season we had guys moving up to Lake County and Lynchburg and I think Sandlin had reached Akron. Even with Torres and Palacios out of action, we have Naylor and Hankins and Delgado and Scott and Broom; Cardenas, Kwan, Royalty and Holland.

This year we have Valdes who's beginning to hit a bit in Arizona; Naranjo and Cairo have done little; Escobedo who's earned a promotion; No. 24 Joab Gonzalez has been as good as anyone else; Brennan who is OK; Gaddis who's thrown a few innings; Curry who like Espino is under wraps; I hope these guys will all take off next year but this is a big disappointment so far.

BA seems to have lost track of the 2 OFs we dealt for Mercado; Capel is back in AA and not hitting anywhere near as well as in his brief sojourn to AAA.
Jhon Torres who was overmatched in regular Class A is now doing much better in the Appy League; a 6-4 200 pound 20 year old OF he of course strikes out a lot but has power and walks reasonably often; could develop into a good prospect.

Re: Minor Matters

Lord knows it’s early, but so far in his limited time I have taken a liking to Brennan. He is a Kansas State college kid, 21 years old, in AZL. But I like his eye so far.

317/400/492 slash line, and 9 walks to only 4 Ks and 8 extra base hits in 63 at bats. If he keeps doing well hopefully he will be a quick mover. Want to see him in Mahoning Valley against others his age.

Re: Minor Matters

Scrappers playing a double header today, lost game 1, 5-4. ... Rocchio was 0-1 when he left game early. No word yet, fingers crossed. ... Delgado 0-4. ... Valera 0-2, BB.

DSL Indians were tied in the 9th when the game was suspended, to be completed July 30th.

DSL Coop won again, amazing. 4-3. ... Gervacio 3.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 1 K.

Indians beat the Indians in an unusual daytime game in Arizona. Aaron Bracho with a double and homer. He's looking quite a power bat:
52 at bats 5 homers 3 singles 2 triples 2 doubles .250 avg 635 SLG
add in 12 walks against 11 strikeouts 388 OBP
Yields an OPS of 1023.
he's been on the roster of exciting middle IF international players; and like Valera basically missed last season with injur
5-11 175 18 years old

drafted Will Brennan, 3 hits, is hitting 343/418/522 21 year old college kid should be at a higher level
similar is Julian Escobido single and walk
now hitting 426/523/630 21 year old lower draft pick than Brennan this year

Espino debuted with a 3 up 3 down inning, struck out one. The box score says he threw 5 pitches, but they count strangely in the AZL. The tally for both teams is supposedly 125 pitches for a 9 inning game
