On the mound today:
Wojiechiewski for Columbus, since they don't have a healthy Civale as their 5th starter
Tanner Tully for Akron, since they don't have McKenzie, as their 5th starter; Ducks looking for their first win,
Juan Hillman set for his Lynchburg debut after a rocky couple seasons in Lake County
TBD listed for Lake County. They went with two guys four innings each [Mota and Ponticelli] Saturday. Shane McCarthy, not to be confused with Kirk McCarty [injured] yesterday went solo. Looking over their roster, Alex Royalty looks like the likely starter. 6-4 190 RH was shut down after 22 solid innings last summer. Like a classic Indian draftee he had plenty of strikeouts [29] and very few walks [5] in his 22 2/3 innings.

Wojo with a really solid 6 innings 1 hit 1 walk 6k. Bobby Bradley a homer. Mercado is 3rd steal. Chang hitting 118. CarGo single and 2 walks. tie 1=1 in the 8th
Akron up by 1 in the 7th. Interesting Akron lineup: not one player among the top 30 prospects, except maybe Longo made the end of some lists.
Tully with not quite as impressive as Wojo: 6 innings 6 hits 2 runs 1 walk 6 K. Ben Krauth who was scoreless in his first outing in to hold the lead.
Juan Hillman with a good debut. 2 runs, both unearned, 1 walk 6 hits 4 K. Wakamatsu made his 3rd error. Kwan with only 1 hit so far, average drops to 526. one of the 11 hits is a double. no walks. He'll always look better on avg than say Nolan Jones who walks a ton [5th in 5 games today] and generally with a lot more extra base hits.
lake county rained out. Although it's nice and dry here in Youngstown.

Akron loses 5th straight. The curse of Sicnarf. Loopstock is gone, the Ducks can't win. Ben Krauth surrendered the game-losing 2 run homer
Lynchburg goes to 4-1. Stephen Kwan with his 5th straight multihit game, including his 2nd double. Austen Wade triple and walk.
Juan Hillman with the win; kind of rare for him, his career mark is 17-28. Solid relief from Robert Broom, 2 innings, 1 hit 1 walk 3 K. And closed out by Kyle Nelson, fanned the 3 he faced; Nelson has been a very steady minor league force; his career ERA is 1.88 and he's fanned 112 in 76 innings only walking 17
Clippers also 4-1 with 10th inning win on a throwing error. CarGo 2 walks 2 hits. But with Naquin hitting 300 we don't need him, right? Bradley double and single, hitting 286, 5K in 14 AB not an improvement. Kipnis 1-3 hitting 222, OPS 633

Karinchak 1.0(IP) 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 3SO That is a nice Outing.
So far, 2 innings, no hits, 6 K, 1BB
For his career to date, 74 innings 59 hits 118K and
49BB
When the Indians drafted him, he did not fit the mold. The scouting report was great stuff but poor control. Someone to watch for the pen this year.

Yes, Karinchak clearly will be moving up and if he can figure out how to keep the ball fairly regularly in the strikezone could become an important big leaguer.
My man Kwan must have some sort of record in his sites with multi hit games every day so far. He doesn't walk and he doesn't hit home runs, but he has included three doubles among his many singles. Don't know enough about his defense.
In yesterday's LC opener, Benson and Holmes and Cardenas combined to go 0-12 with 10 strikeouts. Better results in the nightcap; Benson is at 313/450/625 and has three steals. But of his 11 outs 9 are by strikeout.
