He was a first round draft pick so he had impressed people as an amateur. It was disturbing to see he had steadily dropped in the Arizona prospect ratings as the years went by; and his spring training was not promising. But yesterday's Cleveland debut certainly was nice to see. Perhaps the Cleveland expertise will solve his issues.

Big day for Nolan Jones: 2 hits only one strikeout. Average up to 175 OPS to 571
Brennan's return has not been glorious, he's 0-8
Noel hasn't got into a game since Wednesday when he struck out all 3 times up. Avg 154; OPS 439
I assume they'll keep all 3 around until Thomas is activated, which could be soon. Since he's a right handed hitter, he will probably displace Noel.
Not sure if there will be a need for 2 lefties behind a starting 3 of Kwan, Thomas and Martinez, but the only alternative is Rodriguez and Cleveland clearly has no interest in him.
Perhaps those 3 plus Jones will make a solid contingent; with some improvements coming from Nolan and Martinez not slumping back too much, unlike last season.

rusty - that is pretty much a disaster. Not just a DH only but really DH only and only vs. lefties!

I think Fry ends up in the minors for a good long time getting his timing back and an injury in Cleveland.

If I were them....hard to believe he couldn't at least play some 1B too.

Let's face it, this isn't a playoff contending offense. Average at best. The lower half just plain sucks. With this pitching staff, 1, 2, or even 3 runs isn't going to hack it. Trailing by as many is a recipe for disaster. Despite a few come from behind wins, this team is not built for come from behind wins. Just too many holes. The lineup just isn't something you fix on the fly. I guess as much can be said of the starting rotation. Until the offense figures it out and the starting rotation gets more consistent quality starts, this is going to be a long season.
