time for something good from Jose; he had his one 3-homer 4 4bi day; and otherwise he's 8 for 45, 1 homer, 3 runs batted in.

Clase closed things out adequately last night. 14 pitches. 1 hit. 1 strikeout.
Logan Allen with a second straight scoreless start 5 2/3 2 hits 2 walks 6 strikeouts. 96 pitches: could have been more effficient
everyone contributed to the offense except the number 4 and 5 hitters who were a combined 0-9 with 2 strikeouts. Manzardo's breakout has broken down, now hitting 176 One HIt in his Last 20 At Bats

Williams messes up the second inning: walk, single, walk to load the bases. Holliday unloads them with a slam
Arias 4th homer with bases empty
Williams walks another in the 3rd but DP ends a 2 on 1 out situation

A very poor performance by Bibee. He leads the league in both walks and homers allowed. Who's the staff ace? Logan Allen so far

Lineup changes today:
Jose returns to 3rd in the order, with Lane Thomas 2nd. Thomas is one of 4 starters hitting under 200, and his 329 OPS is as one would expect the lowest.
From experience last season, we can expect at some point a major turn around is coming for Thomas. This would be a nice time.
Oritz returns to Pittsburgh today. His 3 starters have been progressively better:
4 2/3 7 runs 9 hits 4 walks 2 strikeouts 90pitches 6.4 per out
6 innings 3 runs 7 hits 0 walks 3 strikeouts 81 pitches 4.5 per out
5 2/3 1 run 1 hit 2 walks 10 strikeouts. 100 pitches 5.9 per out
I'd like 7 innings today, I'm OK with a run or two and strikeout total isn't as important as efficiency

Oritz was effective although not efficient; 5 innings and out, but he earned a win

Big day for Bo Naylor [and for minor league catchers: see MM folder] with a homer a double a single and 3rbi. Now hitting 214 687 OPS
2 hits each for Thomas, Ramirez, Arias, Kwan
2rbi double by Noel; 2 rbi by Arias
Lousy day for Junis and Seward; Classe had to come in for the final out in what had been a 10-2 game

Some guy named Skenes pitching for Pittsburgh today. We respond with a very lefty-oriented lineup with Jones hitting 2nd; Martinez in CF; Schneeman at 2nd; Arias not in the lineup.

Good game; all the lefties in the lineup worked out: Manzardo homer; Jones single and double; Schneeman double; Kwan two hits.
Lively with a nice 5 2/3 innings and then the Big Four in the Pen did their jobs well. Clase now with 3 saves in his last 3 scoreless outings.
[although a PIT lineup with no one hitting over 240 makes it easier than usual; 4 at 150 or below]

Pittsburgh RH-hitting lineup looks somewhat stronger: 2 hitters over .250, only 3 below 150
CLE has Rocchio back at short, Arias at 2nd, Manzardo at 1st.
Jones batting second worked yesterday so he's back there today

Whoever the writer was that predicted that Manzardo would outhomer Ramirez this season is looking like genius so far. Long way to go though.
